Narrow track vehicles – the convergence of the car and the motorcycle

As the world’s roads become ever more crowded, many manufacturers are looking to single and narrow track vehicles as cars of the future which will reduce congestion. This video examines Nissans tandem two-seat, half width tilting car, the Landglider, and examines all the other work being done around the world as narrow track vehicles begin to make their case. Vehicles covered include Renault Twizy ZE, Volkswagen L1, Yamaha Tesseract, VentureOne, Peugeot Hybrid3 Evolution, Peugeot Hybrid3 Compressor, Nissan PIVO II, Lumeneo Smera, Tilting Car Project, Sidam XNovo, Piaggio MP3 HyS, Xingyue, Auto Moto, Adiva Moose, Adiva 3Route, BMW C3 Electric, Tango, and the reasons behind global traffic congestion

malta. . we are 5th!! OMG

Traffic flow controls need updating as well. Start/Stop cycles kill commuting speed and waste prodigious energy. Traffic circles must replace all stops. Cars need to be linked and controlled at slow speeds to enable high volume flow.

I enjoyed this report, although you missed including the Peraves monotracer. Just looking back at some of those photos of heavy congestion. The gaps between the cars are probably too small for many of the concepts shown. It’s not just the narrow presents of a bike that makes it able to carve through traffic but also it’s short wheelbase to be able to weave in tight radii.

This is an excellent comprehensive report backed up with a great video. But isn’t it a great shame that most companies cater to people’s ego’s and sense of status by manufacturing huge boxes with too much power at the expense of mass production of narrow drive vehicles as featured in this report? Would you believe that a 100cc scooter will cost you close to $5,000 in Australia and am pretty doubtful that anything like the roofed 3 wheeler 150cc could be had for less than $6000. Robbery!

@itsthemechanic and the worst part is that the people breeding at those rates aren’t exactly the world future surgeons or rocket scientists. . .

“Converge” this developing market with a convertible “option” of easy to apply, Snap-On (TM) snowmobile tracs that consumers may purchase for regions with enough snow to monetarily qualify the option purchase.

@gjc82071 You are absolutely right. . it’s estimated that the hard limit of what this planet can sustain is around 10 billion people.

we must think to our sons for their future!

Wonderful to think of running with these resources! Really fantastic. M why do not they stop making cars like the Punto and then point the EVO. The real change I think these are transport-car-motorcycle hybrid and electric that are valid and if not why bother marketing it to oil companies in the world. We think of our children! ! ! !

This video is cool & all, but I was more alarmed by the population statistics. I just don’t see how they can be sustainable. You have countries doubling, tripling, & even quadrupling their populations, while some of those very same countries can barely feed themselves NOW. I don’t think this planet can sustain 10-15-20 billion people. Will it ever max out? Or will there be 1 trillion people in the year 2150?

More kudos for the vids:This is the 2nd gizmag vid I’ve seen and I concur with the other appreciators. Narrator’s voice is so cool. Informational: neither flat & boring or too hypey, trying to match the newest booming techno or other modern music back drop. Really seems knowledgeable. Good stuff! Then a wonderful blend of stills, action, and data figures. Good stuff. Really high quality/substance videos.

@pgm98387 Indeed! the future is looking really bright after seeing these vehicles. . i only hope to live that long that i can actually get to drive one of these. . money is always a problem but maby you can get a cheap one after a few of years when there is a version what is fully designed. .

  17. lozzobear says:

    Sensational video, brilliant work.

  18. pgm98387 says:

Thanks for posting this very informative video. I can see these urban vehicles being loaded onto commuter trains just like cars driving onto and off of a Ferry. The future is looking bright with electricity!
